Buckeye Fire Department IAFF Local #4311 puts on a "Fill the Boot" fund raiser every year to assist the MDA. Local #4311 members are proud to come together in our community to raise money for this very important charity. The money we raise goes to pay for:
- MDA clinics that do initial diagnosis and follow up care.
- Support groups for emotional and practical support for people affected by neuromuscular diseases.
- Summer camps where these kids ages 6 - 21 can spend a week together in the White Mountains of Arizona doing arts and crafts, along with horseback riding and numerous other events.
- Other services we help is in the purchase and repair of wheelchairs, leg braces and communication devices that children must use.
As of our recent efforts in April 2007, Local #4311 raised 8163.00 dollars with the help of the generous community. We take much pride being successful in this campaign and will try again next year to exceed funds of this year.
